Booking a family session sounds incredible! But how do we do this?
QUESTIONS + ANSWERS FOR FAMILIES
GENERAL FAQ
-
Not at all! You’ll still get plenty of beautiful, meaningful moments—but the way they happen will feel different. With a shorter session, I’ll guide things a little more, making sure we get what you need within our time. But there’s something special about the way moments unfold naturally when you aren’t rushed.
Think of it this way: Asking for a kiss vs. just catching one in the moment—they both feel different in the final images. If you want the space to just be together, let things breathe, and capture your family in a more unfiltered, natural way, I’d recommend a two-hour session.
-
Yes! Maternity sessions are family sessions in their own right. The only difference is that instead of chasing toddlers, it’s more like a couples session—just with a whole new chapter ahead of you. The focus is still on connection, love, and the little details that make this season of your life so special.
-
Each session is designed for a different experience level.
The Family Portrait is great for a quick, efficient session with a mix of posed and candid shots.
The Creators Session focuses on interactive family activities, allowing for more variety and natural expressions.
The Discovery Session is an extended documentary-style session that captures everyday moments, perfect for storytelling through photography.

I really enjoy helping parents bring together some activities that spark natural emotions and experiences. I have a full questionnaire that I will have you fill out for planning! I’m always here to help.
-
There are zero expectations. Your kids don’t have to “behave.” You don’t have to worry about everyone looking perfect at all times. The best moments happen when you just enjoy the experience.
Here’s how it works:
✔ We knock out a few posed shots at the beginning.
✔ Then we just hang out—laugh, explore, and let the session flow naturally.
✔ I document everything as it happens—the in-between moments, the unexpected laughter, the hugs, the chaos, and the love.Consider me a family friend who just happens to have a camera. This will be the most relaxed family photo session you’ve ever had, and I promise—it’s going to be perfect.
-
Yes, but it depends on the location!
✔ Dogs are allowed in some parts of Glacier but not on trails.
✔ For sessions in the Flathead Valley, most spots are pet-friendly!
✔ If bringing a dog, consider a neutral-colored leash or harness that won’t be distracting in photos.
-
If you’re unsure of how much time you’ll need, please send me a message with your ideas and I can help you decide which session is right for you.
-
Yes! I have plenty of experience with large family sessions—even groups of 100+ people. My pricing stays the same, but larger groups naturally take more time (especially if we’re doing multiple combinations).
📌 If your group includes more than 8 people who aren’t immediate family, I recommend booking at least a two-hour session to ensure everyone gets the attention they deserve.

Sessions requiring travel must be booked for at least 2 hours. This ensures we have enough time to take full advantage of your location without feeling rushed.
✔ If you want a 1-hour session, I recommend choosing a location within the Flathead Valley or West Glacier, where there are no travel fees.
-
I travel to locations within a 3-hour one-way drive and/or 125-mile radius of Columbia Falls. Some of these locations include:
Logan Pass, Many Glacier, Two Medicine, St. Mary’s, Eureka, Libby, Troy, and Missoula.
For travel to these areas, an additional fee applies based on distance and time.
-
I travel up to 3 hours one-way from my primary location. Any location within the Flathead Valley and West Glacier is included with no additional travel fee. If your session is outside of this area, a travel fee applies based on one-way drive time from my location.
-
Currently, I do not accept bookings beyond 3 hours one-way (6 hours round trip) from my location. If you’re looking for a session outside of this range, I’m happy to recommend other photographers who may be available.
-
Absolutely! However, keep in mind that for locations that require extensive travel, this could mean I need to leave very early or drive home very late. If your session is in a location that’s 2+ hours away and you’d like to utilize sunrise or sunset, please reach out so we can discuss logistics and ensure it’s possible.
-
Rescheduling is allowed, but travel fees may still apply:
If the new date is in the same location, the original travel fee carries over.
If the new date is in a different location requiring more travel, you will need to pay the difference.
If the new date is in a location requiring less travel, travel fees are not refunded but can be credited toward the new session.
-
For most sessions, I do not require overnight stays. However, if your session requires travel to a location where driving back the same day is unsafe (such as a late-night session in a 3-hour-away location), overnight accommodations may be necessary.
If overnight travel is required, the cost of a hotel and reasonable expenses will be added to your invoice.
I will always discuss this with you ahead of time before booking.
-
Yes! If you're looking for a stunning location within the Flathead Valley or West Glacier, I have plenty of recommendations that do not require additional travel fees. Feel free to reach out, and I’ll help you choose the perfect spot.

Montana weather can be unpredictable, especially in the mountains. I keep a close eye on the forecast leading up to your session and will discuss options with you if the weather becomes a concern.
If we need to reschedule, we can coordinate to find a new date that works for both of us.
If the weather is bad but still safe, we may need to adjust the session time.
Travel fees are not refundable in cases where travel has already occurred before cancellation.
-
I do my best to account for potential delays, but Montana roads can be unpredictable due to construction, wildlife, or weather. If I am running late due to unforeseen travel issues, I will communicate with you as soon as possible.
If I am delayed, I will make up the lost time by extending the session accordingly.
If you are late to a session in a travel-required location, your session time will not be extended beyond the original timeframe, as I may have additional bookings or return travel planned.
